5 If the students average 1 infraction or less per week, student earns an E 2 infractions per week, they earn an S 3-4 infractions per week, they earn a N 5 or more infractions per week, they earn a U (Severe infractions could result in lower conduct grades.)

7 Students may have up to 40 minutes of homework each night plus 20 minutes of reading. Daily assignments may be checked by calling the Homework Hotline or checking teacher's website. Homework will be checked in class together or by teacher.

9 Progress Reports will be distributed 4½ weeks into each quarter. Report cards will be distributed every nine weeks. The Grading Scale A = 90 - 100 B = 80 - 89 C = 70 - 79 F = Below 70 Weighted Grades –Tests and Projects = 1.0 –Quizzes =.50 –Daily Grades =.25

10 Along with attendance, grades can be accessed on Parent Portal this year. Please sign up with Rebecca McGinnis in the front office (678-965-5020 ext. 350115) Grades are updated frequently.

11 Each student will have a 9 week goal of four books on their reading level. Encourage your child to work toward their individual reading goals.

12 Grammar – parts of speech, punctuation, types of sentences Spelling – word lists focusing on phonetic spelling patterns Reading – different genres, novel studies, comprehension skills, vocabulary Writing – narrative, expository, and persuasive; State test in March

13 Houghton Mifflin textbooks More traditional approach Timed Multiplication/Division Tests Calculator skills Games and Hands-on Activities Quizzes and Tests signed and returned

14 Life Science kingdoms, classification, cells, microorganisms, inherited traits Earth Science weathering and erosion, plates, earthquakes, and volcanoes Physical Science Chemical/physical changes, Magnetism/electricity Health grades will be given on the 2 and 4th nine weeks report cards.
