1 Year 9 assessment preparation Using social media to promote business

2 Imagine you own your own business…  You have a number of shareholders who want to know if it is a good idea to use social media to…  Promote the business  Communicate with customers  Promote special offers etc.  The shareholders want you to present an argument for and against the use of social media.  The shareholders want a conclusion that is fully supported by the argument

3 Your presentation  Your presentation should argue the advantages and disadvantages using social media for communication and promotion to customers and potential customers.  You may want to think about…  Security risks  Cost of implementation  Social implications  How will this reflect on the business?  How will the company benefit?  What else can you think of?

4 This is a 2 lesson task  Lesson 1 objectives  Set up the presentation and the slides  Research how businesses use social media  Write about the advantages and disadvantages  These should be written as paragraphs  They should be roughly balanced (similar number of advantages and disadvantages)  You should aim to write about 50 words for every advantage and disadvantage.  You may use images to illustrate or prove a point but don’t add them just for decoration.

5  Lesson 2 objectives  This lesson should be spent summarising your conclusion  You need to include in your conclusion if you suggest using social media in your business or not.  You conclusion should be about 200 words long including your decision and references to supporting evidence.  You may use images to illustrate or prove points but should not be used just for decoration.

6 And then…  When finished you may present you findings to your friends or even the class.  What do your peers think?  Do they agree?  Do they disagree?  Has anyone changed their minds?  What is the classes opinion?  Extension  Write an evaluation of your presentation.  Get feedback on your presentation from your friends.
