So what is Girl Scouts? Girl Scouts is a non-profit organization whose main focus is empowering girls and helping them develop to their full potential. Girl scouts is 3.2 million members strong. 890,000 of these members are adults. Girl Scouts of the USA helps todays girls become tomorrows leaders. Girl Scouts of the USA provides programming not only for girls in the US but also for girls living overseas. Girl Scouts is led by the CEO, Ana Maria Chávez, the National Board of Directors, volunteers and staff in over 100 councils nationwide.

The Girl Scout Mission Building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

The History of Girl Scouts Juliette Gordon Low founded GSUSA on March 12, 1912 after meeting Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts while living abroad. After returning home from living abroad, she phoned her cousin saying: "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!“ The organization has been successful for the past 102 years. More than 59 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood—and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.

In 2012, in order to create some sort of fine art to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting, Girl Scouts of Utah had the ‘100 Faces of Girl Scouting.’ Over 100 people showed up to be photographed for this historic event.

The Camp and Outdoor Program Girl Scout camp is a great place for girls to build character, learn leadership skills, gain a sense of belonging, and most of all – have fun! Why are the outdoors important? 88% of children report using a computer every day, while only 11% of children report visiting a local park or natural area every day. 90% of children who spent time outside said being in nature and taking part in outdoor activities helped relieve stress.
