The History of Girl Scouts Juliette Gordon Low founded GSUSA on March 12, 1912 after meeting Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts while living abroad. After returning home from living abroad, she phoned her cousin saying: "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!“ The organization has been successful for the past 102 years. More than 59 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood—and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.

The Camp and Outdoor Program Girl Scout camp is a great place for girls to build character, learn leadership skills, gain a sense of belonging, and most of all – have fun! Why are the outdoors important? 88% of children report using a computer every day, while only 11% of children report visiting a local park or natural area every day. 90% of children who spent time outside said being in nature and taking part in outdoor activities helped relieve stress. Spending time in Nature has proved to reduce behavioral problems and improve moods, attention spans, and short-term memory.
