Gutenberg’s Printing Press ► Developed by German printer Johannes Gutenberg ► Printing press used moveable metal type ► Helped spread humanist ideas throughout Europe ► Books could be quickly printed by machine ► Gutenberg produced the first European printed book, the Christian Bible

Renaissance Artists ► Leonardo de Vinci ► Michelangelo Buonarroit ► Raphael Sanzio ► In your group, pick one of the three Renaissance artists

Renaissance Artists ► In your group, you are going to do some research on the artist you picked. ► Where were they from? What were they famous for? How did they become so popular? Give as much info. as you can about your artist. ► Requirements: Two written paragraphs Draw a picture of either the artist or one of their important works- These will be displayed.

Renaissance Artists ► Questions to answer in the two paragraphs: Where he lived and worked? What are some of the artist’s most important works? Why was he an important Renaissance artist? Did the artist collaborate or work with any other Renaissance artist? Why are the artist’s works still valued today by people around the world?

Conclusion ► Review guiding question for Section 2. ► Discuss findings over the painters. ► Individual Paintings, and/or artists will be due on Thursday, Jan. 29. ► Stations will be tomorrow over Section 3.
