3. Tips for answering low, moderate, and high level questions Low Since these questions are simply recalling information, they will usually come straight from the notes. The only way to know them is to study. 4. Moderate These questions require you to put TWO OR MORE pieces of information together. For example, comparing two things. You have to know what both things are, then you have to find the similarity. Follow these steps: 1.Figure out what the question is asking and what information you’ll need to know. 2.Figure out (and write down, if you need to) each piece of information. 3.Find the answer. 2. 5. Most question on the EOC and on my units tests and quizzes will have what called a stimulus. A stimulus is a short passage, chart, graph, picture, map, political cartoon, newspaper headline, etc. Most of the passages are from historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence of the Constitution. However, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU’RE FAMILIAR WITH THE DOCUMENT OR NOT. It is the IDEA of the document that you are being asked about. 7. High These questions require you to apply facts or knowledge to a new situation. It might not be anything you’ve ever heard of, but, don’t panic because the IDEA of what they’re asking you’ve already learned. These questions almost always have a stimulus. 1.Look at the stimulus carefully. What is the source? 2.What idea is it showing? Look for clues and don’t give up. The answer is there. 3.Choose the best answer. 5. Which system of government is being demonstrated by the political cartoon? a. parliamentary b. unitary c. federal d. confederal

8. Very Important Tips!!! 1.Read the each question and answer choice carefully! One little word make a completely different answer. If you don’t read carefully you may get a question wrong that you knew, and then you will be mad at yourself! 2.For stimulus based questions, make sure you are answer the questions based on THAT stimulus. There will be answer choices that will be right on there own, but they do not come from that passage, picture, etc. 3.Do not jump at the first answer the sounds right. The test writers are very good at making answer choices that sound right, but are not. And most importantly… Try your hardest. Don’t see a paragraph with big words you don’t know and just give up and guess. Sometimes the answers can be found in one or two words. If you really have tried and don’t know, at least narrow it down and take your best guess.
