Joy A theme of Philippians Not the same as happiness (Hebrews 12:2) Not gained by accumulating “things”

Learn To Count (vv. 1-11) Destroying their joy (vv. 1, 2) –Judaizers, called dogs by Paul –Wanted to take them back to bondage (Acts 15:10)

Learn To Count (vv. 1-11) Boasted in the flesh (vv. 3-6) –Paul could have boasted –He was part of the elite –Zealous (1 Timothy 1:15, 16)

Learn To Count (vv. 1-11) Learned how to count (vv. 7-11) –Standing as a Jew meant nothing to him –Possessions weren’t important (James 5:1-3) –Setbacks and reputation nothing (Philippians 1:12-20; 2:6, 7)

Learn To Run (vv. 12-16) He pressed on (v. 12) –Running a “marathon” –Must endure (Hebrews 12:1)
