1 God’s Discipline Hebrews 12:3-8 Bible Discipline is not an Option, but a Direct Commandment! Discipline Works if done scripturally, and will accomplish God’s Purposes!

3 God’s Discipline Gives Direction – not a simple matter of condemnation alone! Ephesians 6:4;Colossians 3:21;Titus 2:3-5 Demands a Bible Standard – not a human standard! Hebrews 12:9-11 Requires Patience & commitment! 2 Timothy 4:2-5

4 Jesus Taught Discipline Matthew 18:9-14, Ninety & Nine Matthew 18:15-17, Clear instructions to an individual! Matthew 18:21-35, Forgive from your heart! Maintain an attitude of forgiveness, but do not go beyond God’s word!

5 Discipline is God’s way of Correcting His children! 1 Corinthians 5:1-8, 13 (“Remove such a one from among you”) Galatians 6:1 (Restore such a one) Jude 16-23 (“pulling them out of the fire,”) 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15 Withdraw yourselves! 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 13-15 Withdraw from them!

6 “Is Biblical Discipline a matter of individual judgment?” NO! “But Don’t you think that Discipline is just a matter of your opinion?” NO! “Is it true that Discipline is a subjective practice based on human judgment?” NO!

7 “How can anyone decide for sure who should be Marked, or who should be Shunned? Perhaps they need time to grow and mature?” Romans 16:17-18, Those causing Divisions Philippians 3:17-18, They Serve Themselves! Enemies of the Cross! 1 Timothy 6:3-5, Shun Such a One! Titus 3:10-11; Factious Person Ephesians 5:7-11* Have No Fellowship with Them! 2 John 9-11, Give them no greeting! Receive them Not!

8 Why should we be accused of being “Heart Readers”? If we hold to the standard of God’s word should we be accused of “Judging Hearts”? Matthew 7:1- 6; Romans 2:1 If we judge what is right according to God’s word does that mean we should be labeled “Hateful” or “Judgmental”? Luke 12:52-57 When we mark a false teacher in accordance with the false doctrine they are teaching, no matter how sincere they are in heart, does it mean we should be labeled a “Heart Reader”? 2 Peter 2:1-3
