Ecotourism A form of tourism that is sensitive to the health of an ecosystem. Involves recreational activities provided by sustainable ecosystems. Examples: hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, bird watching. Now a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide.

Connectivity The collection of links and relationships between ecosystems that are separated geographically. Example: protection for migrating birds across the Can-US border.

Paradigm A view of the world or a way of thinking about how the world works. Paradigm Shift A slow yet significant change in the way humans view the world. Rare

Major changes which are controversial when first proposed but eventually come to be accepted as a major advancement in scientific knowledge and understanding. Examples? The world is flat. Plants revolve around Earth. The continents were once together.

Educate yourself about how products are made, whether they are environmentally friendly, economically and socially sustainable. Examples: Fair Trade Products Based on the transparency in business and sustainable development. A Product’s Life Cycle Involves making, distributing, selling, using, and disposing.
