P ICTURE OF THE MAP OF THE WORLD The green color is where the Tropical Rainforests exists. Bibliography: http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/rainforest.htm

P ICTURE OF OUR BIOME This is a Tropical rainforest biome in: Tropical Rainforest, Lacey Creek, Queensland, Australia. Bibliography: http://desktopnature.com/Nature- Australia/Tropical+Rainforest_+Lacey+Creek_+Queensland_+Australia.jpg.htm l

P LANTS Plants that live there example: Trees: Some trees grow to 120 feet. The leaves Fruit trees provide food for many rainforest animals and people. Tropical plants live in the hot, humid, and wet environment of the tropical rainforest. 6 ANIMALS Animal species in the rainforest also have many adaptations to life in trees and more. For example, prehensile tails are common on possums, and new world monkeys. Special flaps of lizards and frogs skin help to move smoothly between treetops. Bibliography: http://www.globio.org/glossopedia/article.aspx?art_id=6

P EOPLE IN THE RAINFOREST People can live in and around the tropical rainforests for many thousands of years. They cut small parts of the rainforest to build their homes and to burn as firewood. Scientists discovered that they could use plants as medicine and food. Bibliography; http://www.globio.org/glossopedia/article.aspx?art_id=6

E XPLORERS Explorers thought the soil of a rainforest is very wealthy. They tried cutting the forest and turning it into farmland. It didn’t work. When a rainforest is burned or cut down, the soil can only be used for a very short time before it runs out of nutrients. Bibliography; http://www.globio.org/glossopedia/article.aspx?art_id=6
