7 Education and publicity help visitors to enjoy and understand the countryside involved conservation programmes : 1.the Corporate Afforestation Scheme, 2.School Visit Programme 3.Guided Walks 4.other voluntary services

8 Different variety of organisms in the park The parks and the special areas contain a wide variety of organisms: 1.native and introduced tree species 2.a large variety of insects and birds 3.about 240 species of butterflies

13 Background Include coastal areas and marine habitats Visitors are encouraged to appreciate the beauty and diversity of marine life. Diving, swimming, underwater photography and school visits are popular activities in marine parks

14 Conservation and education The need of marine park: threatened by the impacts of sewage, dumping, reclamation and other forms of threats such as destructive fishing. Government Work(AFCD): trawling, unauthorised fishing, hunting or collecting of marine life are prohibited. recreational activities are prohibited

15 Conservation and education Educational activities: guided tours, beach clean-ups, seabed clean-ups and public lectures are regularly organized education programmes which include School Education Programmes and Public Education Programmes. e.g:School Education Programme Public Educational Activities Marine Parks Publications

16 Marine Parks Management Country and Marine Parks Authority is responsible for management: 1. planning for proper utilization of existing marine protected areas (MPAs) (including both marine parks and marine reserve) 2. monitoring the ecology, environment and activities 3. the Marine Parks and Marine Reserve Regulation (Cap. 476A) to achieve the resource sustainability
