Welcome to Ms. Henning’s Classroom 319 Procedures and Guidelines for success

What are the rules in this classroom? 1.Be Respectful 2.Be Prepared 3.Be On Time –we start right away 4.Be Attentive and Participate in Class 5.Follow all school policies and procedures

Where can I get info about class? 1.Assignments on my website 2.Links to other resources on my website 3.Missed work folders by class 4.Your peers

I have high expectations of each and every one of you ! Why? Because I truly believe in you and expect you to do YOUR best! You are ALL smart – nothing will be too hard for you You can do anything you try- put forth effort and interest. “I can’t” is the acronym for “I Completely Admit I’m Not Trying.”

Guideline: Be in your assigned seat, logging on and working on the opener when the bell rings.

Guideline: Bring ALL materials to class and take them with you when you leave. If you are missing something, speak up at start

Materials needed for class Pencil or black/blue pen Binder/Notebook Notebook paper or spiral within notebook Flash Drive (recommended)

Guideline: Do not sign off or pack up before I signal you to. We will do an “Exit Ticket” or “Bottom Line” discussion at end of each lesson – led by students

Guidelines overview Follow all guidelines, procedures, and policies as outlined in the Warren Hills Regional High School handbook

Guideline Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity. Be considerate – do not be disruptive. I will likewise treat you as a young adult. I LOVE high schoolers! I chose you!

STRESS FREE Learning This classroom is a safe zone. We will be pleasant and orderly, you might even have some fun! Feel free to ask/answer questions and share your feelings.

Computer Use Guidelines 1. Use only YOUR # computer 2. Always plug in when returning 3. Stay on task- (I can see your screen:) 4. Privilege will be revoked if abused and alternate work due 5. Take care of our computer lab

Cheating – not tolerated Shows lack of integrity I take Integrity seriously and so should you I will call you out I will make consequences

Not Following Guidelines will result in... 1. Verbal Warning and documentation 2. Teacher Detention/ Email to parent 3. Office Referral/ Call home 4. Severe Clause 5. Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

Classroom Procedures Procedures are put in place for our classroom so you will know what is expected of you on a daily basis. This will allow us to focus all of our attention on the wonderful world of Business!

Entering the Room Please enter quietly. Grab a textbook Get your assigned computer Have a seat Login and Take out your materials. Review the agenda and objectives Begin opening assignment. Ms. Henning’s Classroom

When you are tardy... Enter quietly. Do not be disruptive Excused: Place excuse on my podium. Unexcused: I will document it and 2 nd time will be a detention. Have a seat and take out your materials.

Getting Your Attention I will... Stand in front or middle of the class. Raise my hand and say “Class: Quiet Please” Wait for everyone to be quiet. Begin speaking.

Finished work Early? “What do I do next?” Work on any unfinished Business assignments Go to textbook companion site and play beat the clock, concentration or other review games Review current Key Terms – Go to back of chapter review for quick self assessment Begin working on new Key Terms

Absence Procedures Go to the MISSED WORK folder. Retrieve any handouts. Sign and date the Page

What are Objectives? SWBAT: Students Will Be Able To… Items that you will get to know What is expected of you to learn

Bottom Line – closing to check our understanding A volunteer picks a student name from the cup The student summarizes the big idea of the day’s lesson. Other students may add to the original statement. Participation is required and encouraged! Assess lesson mastery on a GOAL SCALE

Class Dismissal I will let you know when class is dismissed and to pack up. Do not start packing up prior to the bell. Do NOT line up at door Please wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with “Have a nice day!”
