Hybrid vehicles do not produce any air pollution. They save a TON of money on fuel over time. The vehicles themselves are expensive to purchase. They take a long time to charge and cannot store a lot of energy. ProsCons PROS AND CONS OF HYBRID VEHICLES

ELECTRIC CAR

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY Hybrid vehicles generally use electric to power themselves, but they also use gasoline. Part of the reason why Hybrids get such high gas mileage is because while braking, the car recaptures some of the forward momentum and uses it to generate electricity and stores it in the battery. In a Toyota Prius, the battery allows the electric motor to power the car longer, reducing the amount of gas used.

FUN FACTS UPS purchased 50 hybrid trucks for short deliveries, and they estimated to save 44,000 gallons of fuel in one year. By the end of next year, Coca-Cola will have 120 hybrid vehicles nationwide. The world's first hybrid car was the "Mixte" and it was built by Ferdinand Porsche in 1902.
