MEASURING THE MOVEMENT OF MOLECULES
HEAT AND TEMPERATURE MEASURING THE MOVEMENT OF MOLECULES
2
HOW FAST ARE THE MOLECULES MOVING?
1). HOW FAST OR HOW SLOW THE MOLECULES ARE MOVING DETERMINES THE STATE OF MATTER! 2). ICE-WATER-WATER VAPOR. ADDING HEAT SPEEDS UP THE MOLECULES. TAKING HEAT AWAY SLOWS DOWN THE MOLECULES.
3
TEMPERATURE SCALES FAHRENHEIT-WATER FREEZES AT 32 DEGREES, AND BOILS AT 212 DEGREES. ABSOLUTE ZERO = -359 CELSIUS-WATER FREEZES AT 0 DEGREES, AND BOILS AT 100 DEGREES. KELVIN-0 DEGREES ON THE KELVIN SCALE = ABSOLUTE ZERO.
4
ABSOLUTE ZERO THE TEMPERATURE AT WHICH ALL MOLECULAR MOTION STOPS.
THIS CAN ONLY BE REACHED IN DEEP OUTER SPACE.
