How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness? He sent His Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness. How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go? He sent His Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know. How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death? He sent His Son to die for us and rise with living breath. What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say? Have faith, have hope, live like His Son, help others on their way. What does He ask? Live like His Son. 3  Think  Think about how you have felt when you have had a bad dream.  How  How did you feel?

 Do you remember what a relief it was to wake up and realize it was not real but just a bad dream?

 Disobeying Heavenly Father’s commandments causes unhappiness, pain, and sorrow. TTTThose who feel guilty for disobeying might wish they could “wake up” and find that their sins were gone.

 Forgiveness for sins is not that simple, but Heavenly Father has provided a way for us to be forgiven for our sins.

BBBBefore the earth was created we all lived as spirit children of our Heavenly Father.

 Jesus Christ, under the direction of Heavenly Father, created this world and everything on it. CreationCreation

CreationCreation Adam & Eve— Fall AAAAdam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden, where they chose to partake of the fruit Heavenly Father had forbidden them to eat.

AAAAdam and Eve’s disobedience in partaking of the fruit is called the Fall. CreationCreation AAAAdam and Eve made it possible for us to be born on earth.

TTTThe Fall was necessary, but it had two serious consequences for all of us: WWWWe would all commit sin, making poor choices between good and evil. WWWWe would all suffer physical death. CreationCreation SinSin Physical Death

 Before the earth was created, Heavenly Father already had a plan that could redeem, or save, us if we repent.  In this lesson we will learn about a Lamanite king who realized he had committed serious sins and how he obtained forgiveness for his sins.

“Lesson 18: King Lamoni’s Father Is Converted,” Primary 4: Book of Mormon, (1997),60 “Ammon Meets King Lamoni’s Father,” Ch. 24 & “Aaron Teaches King Lamoni’s Father,” Ch. 25, Book of Mormon Stories

 The Lord warned Ammon not to go because Lamoni’s father would try to kill him.  King Lamoni wanted to take Ammon to meet his father.

 The Lord told Ammon to go instead to the land of Middoni, where his brother Aaron was in prison. KKKKing Lamoni went with Ammon.

 As they traveled they met King Lamoni’s father, who was king over all the land.  He  He asked Lamoni where he was going with a lying Nephite.

 King Lamoni told his father about Ammon and his brother who was in prison. AAAAngry, Lamoni’s father ordered Lamoni to kill Ammon and not go to Middoni.

 Lamoni refused to kill Ammon and said he and Ammon were going to free Aaron. LLLLamoni’s father became angrier and drew his sword to kill Lamoni.

 Ammon stepped forward to protect Lamoni. LLLLamoni’s father then tried to kill Ammon, but he defended himself and wounded the arm of Lamoni’s father.

 Lamoni’s father saw that Ammon could kill him.  He offered Ammon half of his kingdom if he would spare his life.

 Ammon said he wanted Aaron and his companions freed from prison and wanted Lamoni to be able to keep his kingdom.

 Lamoni’s father realized that Ammon did not want to hurt him.  He was amazed at how much Ammon loved his son.  He invited Ammon to teach him the gospel.

 Ammon and King Lamoni went to Middoni.  Lamoni spoke with the king there, and Aaron and his companions were released from prison.

 Ammon was sad to see how poorly they had been treated. TTTThey had suffered much but had been patient.

 The Spirit guided Aaron and his companions to the land of Nephi to teach Lamoni’s father, the king over all the Lamanites.

 Aaron told the king he was Ammon’s brother. TTTThe king had been thinking about Ammon’s kindness and about what Ammon had said to him.

 Aaron asked the king if he believed in God.  The king said he wasn’t sure but said he would believe if Aaron said God exists. AAAAaron assured the king that God lives.

 Aaron read the scriptures to the king. HHHHe taught him about the earth’s Creation, Adam’s Fall, and Jesus Christ’s mission.

 The king asked what he needed to do to have the Holy Ghost and be ready to live with God.  The  The king was willing to do anything, even give up his kingdom.

 He needed to pray and have faith in God.  Aaron told the king he needed to fully repent of his sins.

 The king prayed to know if there really is a God. HHHHe said he would give up all his sins.

 The king fell to the ground and appeared to be dead.  When the queen saw him, she thought Aaron and his companions had killed him.

 The queen ordered her servants to kill Aaron and his companions, but the servants were afraid to.  She sent them to find other people who would do it.

 Before a large crowd could gather and cause trouble, Aaron took the king’s hand and told him to stand.  The king stood.

 The king calmed his frightened wife and servants and then taught them the gospel.  They all believed in Jesus Christ.
