Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday
positively tokens absolutely non-returnable rent vanish
2
tokens: pieces of metal shaped like coins, used instead of money
It isn’t fair because what I’ve got is bus tokens. We changed our money for game tokens so we could play our favorite games.
3
absolutely: without any doubt
I absolutely was saving the rest of my money. I absolutely promised to take out the garbage last night.
4
positively: for sure; certainly; confidently
I positively was saving the rest of my money. I positively believed that I would take out the garbage, but I fell asleep.
5
rent: to provide the use of something for a fee; to pay a fee in order to use something
Except that Eddie called me up and said that he would rent me his snake for an hour. Mom said we would have to rent a car to go to the beach next weekend.
6
vanish: disappear But then Nick did a magic trick that made my pennies vanish in thin air. We watched the cookies we brought vanish in minutes.
7
non-returnable: something that cannot be taken or given back
I brought some non-returnable bottles down to Friendly’s Market. Because these bottles are non-returnable, we can’t get any money back for them.
