Voters are common people who over 18,each constituency will elect one person who will become their”member of Parliament” The Party which wins the seats in the election can form a government. The leader become the prime minister and form his Cabinet.next largest party in the Commons forms a “shadow” Cabinet.

4 PROCCESS OF BECOMING A MP Anybody over the age of 21 who was interested in politics,may come from any job or professions. Get most votes in Local Campaign Make public speeches, appear on local TV,grasp the heart of the voter,hands up their own “manifesto” Get most vote on Election day Enter Parliament,representing all people in the constituency as their MP.

5 MEMBERS OF HOUSE OF LORDS Important leaders of the Church of England (Archbishops and Bishops) Hereditary Peer or Peeresses who have inherited their titles and are automatically members of the chamber for life Life peers who were appointed by the Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister.

7 Cabinet Office Minister Douglas Alexander said : I welcome this update about top Civil Service diversity. The Government is committed to making the Civil Service more reflective of the communities we serve - it makes sound business sense and will serve to improve our delivery." Findings for October 2002 : 2.8%of staff at Senior Civil Service (SCS) level are from minority ethnic backgrounds; and 1.7% of staff at SCS level are disabled. 25.8% of the SCS are women; and 23.1% of those in the very top management posts are women. This includes 4 women at Permanent Secretary level.
