Sept. 1, 2005 A new Okanagan College and UBC Okanagan are announced by Premier Gordon Campbell March 17, 2004 The new college will open its doors. Four campuses: Salmon Arm, Penticton, Vernon, Kelowna A tight timeline

What we are Four campuses, and several associated centres, with proud history of serving students and our communities Approximately 3,600 students in addition to over 30,000 Continuing Education registrations A variety of programs, including university transfer, vocational, developmental, diploma and certificate

What we will become Larger: 1,000 more full-time students by 2009-10, beginning with growth of 190 students in 2005-06. An integrated part of the learning opportunities in this region, working closely with UBC Okanagan and our K-12 partners An increasingly important part of the regional economy

What we will not be Just the Okanagan College of a decade ago –The region has changed: Learning needs Economic, social and cultural development needs Community expectations –Post-secondary education has changed

Our Goal More access for more people to more quality programs throughout the region

Processes to get us there By end of June: –Examine what we do, what we are (underway and nearly complete) –Consult with communities we serve –Consult with internal community –Develop plan, communicate it, gather feedback Implement transition plan by September 2005, longer range plan by 2010

You can help Identify community and regional needs and expectations –Programs –Services Help create our vision Through public forums, roundtables, our website forum and the Regional Advisory Committee

Together we can create a College that builds on 40 years of excellent service to the region, honours the close connection with our communities, and takes its place as one of the best post-secondary institutions of its type in Canada and the world
