2 Art in Ancient Greece  Art in most places is very important the Greeks made beautiful art works. The Greeks inspired much art that you see today in many great nations.  There are four periods of art in Ancient Greece the Geometric, Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic. There is no set time for when the periods separated because art in Ancient Greece took hold in different time periods all over Greece.  Though Greek and Roman art was very similar the way you could tell the difference is Greek art only shows the glory of something.

3 Literature in Ancient Greece  There were many poets in Greek times. One of these poets was Homer. Homer didn’t make up the story of the Odyssey but he was the first to write it down.  Homer was blind. In Greece many writers, poets, and prophets were blind because they were believed to have there other senses stronger from not being able to see and were believed to see things before It happened.  Aesop is a writer who writes fables his most famous one is the Tortoise and the Hare which you might have seen or read about in a a book. It is a story of how a tortoise wins a race by going calmly and steadily unlike the hare who gets ahead and doses off.

4 Architecture in Ancient Greece  There are three different styles the Greeks used for there buildings: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian (to the left in the same order here).  The acropolis was a sacred sight in Athens although there where other acropolises in Greece this one was the most valued. The acropolis is a large plateau that rises 512ft above sea level it had many buildings on it but was ran sacked as the years went by.

5 Philosophy in Ancient Greece  One of Socrates students was Plato. Though Plato was Socrates pupil he didn’t follow the same philosophy Socrates did he followed Parmenides. One thing he studied was platonic love.  Antisthenes was another one of Socrates students. He believed in Socrates philosophy but only partially. He believed that there was no set and stone definition for words.  Socrates a famous Greek philosopher studied ethics he liked to question people on what they knew. An oracle said that he was the wisest man in Athens. It was true for everyone claimed to know what they didn’t except for him. He was accused of treason and forced to drink poison for “corrupted the youth”.

6 Inventions in Ancient Greece  The Greeks inspire much of what we have today for example roads and bridges they even effected the way we build our buildings.  A man named Pythagoras was a famous mathematician. Though he made many discoveries (including the Pythagorean therom) he’s mostly remembered because of what his disciples did like one committed suicide and jumped in a volcano.

7 History In Ancient Greece Prt.1  The Peloponnesian War was between Sparta and Athens at the time of a plague in Athens. At this time an Athenian named Thucydides had started writing what was happening and everything that he saw. Thucydides became a general and is known as the greatest historian for he was the first to combine history with politics

8 History in Ancient Greece Prt.2  The Trojan war was between Troy and the Greeks. In the war one of the Greeks had a plan: they climbed into a giant wooden horse they had made and gave it to the Trojans. When the Trojans were asleep and the horse was safely inside the Greeks climbed out of the horse and let the rest of the Greeks inside they ransacked and burned Troy.

9 Mythology in Ancient Greece  The Greeks believed in many different gods. They had gods for everything they even had a god of wine.  One of the main gods was Zeus he was god of the sky his brother, Poseidon ruled the sea, and his other brother Hades ruled the underworld.
