2. Simulation Overview Teams of 3 will start a cookie company. Each team will name their company and choose a cookie recipe. Each team will begin with $25. There will be 4 cookie sales. The teams will need to track the following: 1.Inventory of ingredients 2.Amount of ingredients used for each sale 3.Cost, revenue and profit Teams will present sales at mock stock holders meeting.

3. Simulation Process 1. Use Lemonade Stand to introduce. 2. Students decide on a company name and a cookie recipe. 3. Each team will bake 1 small batch of cookies to bring to school for quality testing. 4. Cookies will be measured and tasted. 5. 4. Team Roles The Buyer Responsibilities: 1. ‘Buy’ the ingredients for the cookies. 2. Track the costs in Excel. 3. Track the inventory in Excel.

5. Team Roles The Kitchen Specialist Responsibilities: 1. Make sure the recipe is typed into Word. 2. Calculate the amount of ingredients used for the sale and track in Excel. 3. Communicate the amount of the ingredients used back to the buyer for inventory tracking.

6. Team Roles The Financial Manager Responsibilities: 1. Calculate and track cost, revenue and profit in Excel. 2. Graphically show fluctuations in sales as each sale is held.

8. Diversity The logical/mathematical students will love the calculations and data tracking part of the project. The interpersonal students will enjoy working in a team atmosphere. The visual/spatial learners will like it when we measure the cookies and rate them. Having the students express what they learned in multiple formats such as the report, the presentation, the debriefing and reflection. PowerPoint presentations can be a powerful learning tool for students with learning disabilities.
