History Internet – a system of networked computers 1960s, the Internet was created by DOD, specifically (ARPA) Advanced Research Project Agency. 1960-1990 National Science Foundation helped the Internet grow by using it as a communications tool (science and academics) 1990s people saw the potential to use the Internet to reach new and existing customers GUI – graphical user interface (pictures, icons) WWW – the method to access information contained on computers connected to the Internet.
