Background Influenza A (H1N1) Planning – Independent Sector Group established May 2009 Membership – HSCB, PHA, 5 Trusts, Primary Care, DHSSPS, RQIA, NIHE, Independent Sector Representatives Remit – Preparedness of Independent Sector Including 1,250 Registered Organisations/ Agencies, Non-Registered Agencies and wider Community/Voluntary sector

Issues Workstream focusing on Communication/information/guidance Training Service Continuity Planning PPE Vaccination

Current Position Communication/information – systems in place Guidance – RQIA and PHA websites - updating core documents Training – face-to-face and e-learning programme, uptake rates Service Continuity Plans – response (96%) and QA ongoing

PPE - Modelling/mapping complete – Business Case - Interim arrangements to access PPE - Nebulisation service model, face fit testing Daily reporting system – Flucon status – exception basis, triggers to cease services Vaccination Programme – census of staff, mapping information, contribution of Four Seasons and Southern Cross Health Care

Key Challenges Capacity of Independent Sector Services to meet surge demand HR issues/guidance – buddying, use of volunteers/relatives, POCVA checks Monitoring impact of Flu Pandemic on wider Independent Sector Finance – exceptional staffing costs
