Sedimentary clasts are classified by grain size (the size of the individual clasts) using the Wentworth Scale: Wentworth Scale Boulders Cobbles Gravel (pebbles) Sand Silt Clay Larger clasts require more energy to transport Smaller clasts require less energy to transport
