LOST LAKE NATURE WALK BY: JIMMY HOLCOMB

WALKING IN NATURE We went for a 45 minute walk around a lake. The whole trail was dry. The trail was made up of gravel and some wood chips. On our walk we saw lots of White Birch Trees.

TYPES OF BIRCH TREES There are 52 different types of birch trees. These are some of the other native birch trees north America. swamp birch gray birch paper birch water birch river birch or black birch sweet birch, cherry birch, or black birch American dwarf birch mountain paper birch yellow birch

USES FOR BIRCH TREES There are lots of uses for birch trees. One of the uses for birch trees are that make paper out of birch trees. Another use is for medicine because in the bark of the tree birch bud in folk medicine.

WHY BIRCH TREES GROW UP NORTH BUT NOT HERE The paper birch is the white birch of the U.S.A. I always see a lot of birch trees when we go up north but not around here because they are very hard to take care of and they are weak trees. They are also very vulnerable to bugs and disease.

YELLOW MUSHROOMS Another thing I saw that was cool where these yellow mushrooms. Their real name is Fly Agaric Mushroom. Fly Agaric fungi got their name from the custom of placing little pieces of the mushroom in milk to attract flies.
