MACAU PLACES OF INTEREST FORTRESS OF ST PAOLO DO MONTE FORTRESS OF ST PAOLO DO MONTE Built between 1617 and 1626, Monte Forte occupies 21,000 square feet in an irregular quadrangle with bastion at each corners. It contains barracks, cisterns and storehouses capable of sustaining a siege of up to two years. Today the fort is a public park, with fine views of St. Paul's and the city. CHURCH OF ST PAUL’S CHURCH OF ST PAUL’S All that remains of the greatest of Macau's churches is its magnificent stone façade and grand staircase. The church was built in 1602. The church, made of taipa and wood, was brilliantly decorated and furnished. The façade of carved stone was built between 1620 - 27

It is a popular place with benches, potted shrubs and a fountain in the shape of an armillary sphere. During Chinese New Year, the Asian Arts Festival and on other occasions, a stage is set up in the square for various performances. A-MA TEMPLE A-MA TEMPLE It has beautiful tiled roofs and spectacular views from the upper gardens. The festival of A-Ma takes place on the 23 rd day of the 3 rd moon (April or May).
