FEATURES Podcasts are defined by Merriam Webster as a program (as of music or talk) made available for instant download over the Internet Podcasts have many different categories You can listen to a variety of genres: Sports News Entertainment Comedy Music Arts & Culture Technology AUDIENCE Podcasts attract a broad audience because they cater to everyone’s needs There is a podcast available to everyone from infants to the elderly

SOCIAL MEDIA CHARACTERISTICS Podcasts fall under the social media category because they meet several of the social media characteristics Connect with friends Podcasts are in their own sense, programs, people can watch them/listen to them and share their thoughts with others, just as they would after listening to a freshly released song or the latest episode of their favorite TV show Web Address Most podcasts are on iTunes but there are also some that are available on the regular internet with URLs Posts have time stamps Podcasts are updated usually weekly, therefore, giving them a time stamp Web Space Podcasts have web space which means that they are on the internet, free for all to download, share, and enjoy.

TOTALLY SOCIAL The public care about podcasts because they relay information in an easy and accessible way. We will adopt this social media outlet because podcasts are easy to access and extremely convenient, you can watch them whenever, wherever. The uses of podcasts are to become informed or entertained on the particular subject. I could see myself using podcasts because it’s just like tuning in for a weekly update on whatever the topic or story may be, which I do with Television
