Interactive white boards have been around for almost 20 years. They are used in education, businesses, and governmental areas. The two main companies that manufacture interactive white boards are SmartBoard and the Promethean board. 11

The SmartBoard originated from Canada. It was founded in 1987 by David Martin and Nancy Knowlton. Made its first appearance in 1991. In 1992, Smart linked with the Intel Corporation and the SmartBoard took off. Today it is reported that 1.7 million to date installed for schools, business, and government. Research Dr. Robert J. Marzano, PhD, cofounder and CEO or Marzano Research Laboratory in Englewood, Colorado, conducted a study regarding the use of technology and student growth.
