Ideas Make the “Summary” step the next day’s bell work. Make the “Questions” portion a homework assignment – put students in small groups or pairs to answer each other’s questions. In the “Summary” portion, hold students to a certain number of words/sentences. This forces them to become concise.
9
For the “Questions” portion, ask kids to write potential test questions (read my mind!). “Summary” portion could also be used as reflection – ask students to apply the current lesson to what they’ve already learned. Use this not only when you lecture, but for short reading assignments/chapter review.
