2 World Trade Center History David Rockefeller developed the idea 16-acre World Trade Center site Over 3,500 people worked on the construction (60 people died during its construction) This structure had its own zip code, 10048 Building dedication in April, 1973 World’s largest building until May, 1973 (Sears Tower)

3 World Trade Center History There were 43, 600 windows, 12,000 miles of cables, 2000,000 tons of steel, and 425,000 cubic yards of concrete. The Towers each included… o 110 floors o97 passenger elevators o208 by 208 ft at each base Over 50,000 workers and 200,000 tourists went through each day. This was New York’s most famous landmark.
