Science Honors Biology All students will take Science unless… You have an >88% in Earth/Space Science in each marking period AND You have >88% in Algebra I or Geometry AND You have a favorable recommendation from 8 th grade science teacher There are Only 2 Options:

Science Foundation for ALL High School Science Courses PA Standards Based Physical Science 1/3 Chemistry 1/3 Environmental (Keystone Exam) 1/3 Physics Emphasis on connections to the Environment (Keystone)

Honors Biology - Overview Honors Biology will provide you with learning opportunities to understand concepts related to the study of all living things.

Honors Biology - Content The Chemical Basis for Life Cell Structure and Function Bioenergetics Cell Growth and Reproduction Genetics Evolution of Biodiversity Ecology

Honors Biology - Expectation This will be a more challenging course than what you have been accustomed to in your previous academic years.

Honors Biology - Expectations Taking Honors Biology has an expectation that the student will take 4 years of High School science.

Requirements/Guidelines Students are required to pass 3 science credits to graduate. Students must take Biology (only required course) and 2 other electives. Our Department believes that each student should take a course in Biology, Chemistry and Physics before leaving Central Dauphin. Students taking and passing 6 or more science courses will receive Science Merit Awards at Senior Awards Night.
