1. Rex Lookout -on the road from Port Douglas to Cairns

2. to take the skyrail to Kuranda.

3. We leave the Caravonica Terminal far below us

4. in a gondola suspended on the cable-way

5. that travels above the tropical rainforest.

6. With the canopy on the side of the hill, it is almost in your face

7. and a good way to see all the plants that live in the canopy top.

8. We climb even higher

9. and looking down can make you dizzy

10. but to the side

11. it is awe inspiring.

12. Having reached the top, there is a sky way “plateau” ”

13. that travels high above the rainforest.

14. Looking back at the pylons

15. and out across the landscape.

16. The railway cuts into the hill opposite.

17. The Hydro- Electric Power Station

18. harnesses power from the Barron River Falls

19. that tumble deep into the gorge far below.

20. At the moment the falls are a trickle

21. But they are ferocious during the “wet” !

22. The water is held back by a dam at the top of the falls.

23. We take off again across the terrain,

24. heading over the Rainforest

25. that lies deep below us.

26. Kuranda is seen over in the distance

27. The Skyrail crosses the Barron River.

28. Looking back at the rainforest on its banks.

29. The body of a wrecked aircraft at the entrance to the Kuranda Heritage Markets.

30. At the end of the day we return to Cairns

31. Preferring the gondola to the train option.

33. On the way home we stop in at Palm Cove, also aptly named.
