Asset Skills Asset Skills is one of 25 Sector Skills Councils and defines its domain as 'places in which we live and work'. In addition to FM, it encompasses property, housing and cleaning services. It comprises 100,000 organisations with a total of about 1.4m employees (over 80% of the organisations employ fewer than five staff). In all, this grouping accounts for 7% of UK GDP. BIFM and FMA represent our sector on this council.

CIBSE and HVCA CIBSE The BIFM and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers recently signed a partnership agreement aimed at joint development and promotion of excellence in facilities management practice. HVCA The BIFM has taken another step in building links with industry organisations. BIFM and the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association are planning initiatives designed to forge closer working relations.

International Memorandum of Understanding - Governance Structure Responsibility for alliance oversight vested in the Past Chairs and Chief Executive Officers of IFMA, BIFM, and FMA To develop and promote knowledge, standards, and education in the facilities management profession. Using one voice, collaborate on the development and means to share the progress of facilities management, knowledge, and standards.

IPFMA and BIFM The British Institute of Facilities Management has signed a Partners in FM Excellence agreement with IPFMA The Irish Property and Facility Management Association (IPFMA) have committed to collaborate on FM research, standards development, knowledge exchange, educational programmes, professional development and events. Members of the BIFM and IPFMA will also share services and other benefits, including access to each other’s publications, membership sections of the web sites and training programmes. It is encouraging to see members from IPFMA here at this conference
