Planning a document –Identify the message –Identify your audience –Identify needed elements (charts, tables, etc.) –Identify the document appearance (formal, relaxed, etc.) The purpose and audience determines document design.

Word wraps text when you reach the edge of the document. –The word-wrap feature automatically moves the insertion point to the next line in the document Word automatically corrects typing errors with the AutoCorrect feature. –Other basic Word features include smart tags and AutoComplete

13Getting Started with Word 2002 Unit A Saving a Document To store a document permanently, you must save it as a file. –A file is saved with a name, called a filename A filename identifies the file and where it is storedA filename identifies the file and where it is stored –Files are saved to an internal hard disk, a floppy disk, or to other locations
