PARTS OF THE SYSTEM Epiglottis-Protects the Larynx and Lungs Larynx-Allows air to the lungs Vocal chords-Produces a person’s voice and Is located at the side of the larynx Trachea/Windpipe-Carries air to the lungs Lungs- Two sets of organs that oxygen goes through to get to the blood cell Diaphragm-It contracts to allow more air into the lungs

5. DISEASES AND HOW TO PREVENT THEM Ways that the Respiratory system can start failing is if the person inhales foreign bodies or cigarette smoke (Second- hand smoke). Those two things can cause an infection to the lungs, if in severe situations, can make them shut down. Don’t do stupid things like the cinnamon challenge. The cinnamon can get into your lungs and cause it to collapse. Don’t smoke and don’t stand near smokers Test your home for radon which is a rare but dangerous radioactive gas. Be careful of carcinogens, which are the things that cause cancer.
