School social worker tasks: - information and advice about psycho-social problems - to provide assistance/counseling to parents and child - refer to specialized help - support parents en children waiting for specialized help/to bridge the waiting list - consultation for teachers/school - research and reporting on the social and family circumstances of children - parenting support - outreachend work

Why: -help and signaling in a early stage -accessible -better cooperation with school/parents/social work for the well- being off the child -Shorter routes with authorities

School social work in Horst: (organisation) office hours at school: -Frequency of at least 1 x per month -For parents/children -For teachers/school -No need for an appointment Coaching at school/at the office or at home Alignement with school: pupils discuss to arrive at a common approach; parents/school

Practical questions: Problems in relation to other children: lack of social skills, lack of friends, assertiveness Psychological problems: low self esteem, fear of failure Parenting question; set limits, contact with the child, etc. Problems about divorce: conflict between parents, loyalty-conflict, question about the procedure, financial problems Bereavement (dead, divorce, etc.) Multi-problem-families: financial, housing, marriage problems, domestic violence, etc.
