8 1st Continental Congress 1774 Only twelve colonies participated. Georgia was in trouble with Indians and was waiting for English assistance.

10 Reasons to get Independence They had to pay taxes to England $$$$ They wanted free choice for religion They wanted individual rights. Not rights for the colonies set by England. They wanted to act freely. They wanted their own property and start growing from there.
