Exploratory Student invests time in learning something new about the agricultural industry Learn about an agricultural area before full-scale investment of money and resources. Primary investment is time. Records include information or skills learned hours spent learning about topic.

Research Students use the scientific method to analyze a research question or test a hypothesis. Great way to develop scientific research skills Typically involves only an investment in time Records are kept related to hours spent on the research initial research, procedures, data collected from research, conclusions that can be made from the project.

Placement Student works for someone else Can occur when student works for any agricultural business, for an individual for pay, or unpaid internships No investment of money, only an investment of time spent working. Records are kept on hours spent, skills learned, any money made through the hours worked.

Entrepreneurship Students have the chance to own their own SAE resources and make management decisions related to the entire enterprise. Typically an investment of both time and money Records are kept on time spent with the project, skills learned, money spent, income received

Supplemental SAEs Supplemental (Training) SAEs Allow for out of class training related to SAE enterprise Improvement Project Projects related to updating or modifying an existing SAE enterprise i.e. putting power or waterlines in a barn for show animals
