In some sentences with a compound verb, all parts of the verb share a single direct object. To diagram, connect the verb parts back together at the baseline. Then extend the baseline to hold the direct object. part one of compound predicate/verb simple subject direct object conj. part two of compound predicate/verb

Copy each of the following and then diagram each.
Rangers led hikes and gave hikers advice. Campers collected and buried leftovers. Rain gives plants nourishment but can dampen spirits. Weather can help or hurt vacationers.
