Laboratory equipment Light Microscope: Used for magnifying microscopic objects. Dissecting microscope: Used to view small animals, plants or organs when dissecting them. Can produce a 3 dimensional image.

Electron microscope Use electrons to view the image. Much larger magnification than a regular light microscope.

Funnel: Allows for transfer of liquids through a small opening; filters materials with filter paper. Goggles: Eye protection in lab

Test tube with test tube holder Test tube: Used for reacting small amounts of liquid Test tube holder: Holds individual test tube Glass beakers: Used to hold, mix and heat solutions in.

Test tube rack: Holds many test tubes upright

Forceps: Grasps small objects Dissecting needle: Used during dissections to lift organs, hold skin in place. Scalpel: Used to cut through skin to reveal the inner organs

Graduated cylinder: Take accurate measurements of liquids. Test tube brush: Used to clean test tubes

Eye dropper/Medicine dropper/ Dropper: Measures out drops of liquid Dissecting pan: Used to place specimen you are dissecting in. Dissecting pins: Help to secure the specimen you are dissecting.

Thermometer: Measures temperature in degrees Celcius Petri dish: Shallow dish used to culture bacteria
