At minimum, should contain: Task description, sub-tasks, timeline for accomplishing tasks/subtasks, and staff assignment Do any of you have a specific tool you like to use (e.g. Excel, Smartsheet, etc.)?

C LIMATE C ORPS B AY A REA 2011 T RAINING Where, GHG = emissions (amount of CO2 or CH4, etc) A = activity data (liters of fuel, kg of cement) EF = emission factor (kg CO2/liter of fuel, kgCO2/kg cement) To reduce the value of GHG: lower the value of A decreasing frequency or magnitude of activity or emission source; lower the value of Emission factor shifting into a more efficient technology, less carbon intensive activity; or do both at the same time GHG = A x EF

Get together with 1-2 other people who have computers Log into the metrics from last year Find a project that has some similarities to yours and one that is different Look at how their metrics are constructed Try to build a sample metrics calculator for your projects Answer these questions What data will you need? What assumptions will you need?

C LIMATE C ORPS B AY A REA 2011 T RAINING Have to have metrics for all projects Should try to be consistent across projects Must document the following elements Quantity of items implemented (e.g. lightbulbs, solar panels) Amount of resource conservation occuring (e.g. kwh) Conversion factors to GHG (e.g. #CO2e/kWh) Assumptions and sources used in calculations Baseline if this project was implemented last year Metrics must align with data log (e.g. what you report in your data log should carry over to metrics) We only can count project outcomes that occur during the year of service (e.g. x kwh for y months) First draft due November 29th
