Ethical & Environmental Impact Analysis
2
Environmental Impact Manufacturing: Hazardous Chemicals used in the manufacturing of the PCB, Li+ Battery, ICs Normal Use: Power consumption Small coal usage for power to recharge battery Disposal: Non-biodegradable Ics, PCB Hazardous Chemicals to dispose of Li+ Battery
3
Addressing Environmental Impact Manufacturing: Area of PCB is small to begin with. Keep chassis simple. Normal Use: 7.4 V drawing ~0.21 A = 1.55 W – Not an issue Battery is not powering components while off Disposal: Instruct on proper disposal of Li+ Battery Proper disposal/recycling of PCB Possibly Recycle motors & Sensors
4
Ethical Challenges Safety: Shock/Burn user Battery explosion Fire Misuse: Overcharging battery Reprogrammed for Kamikaze missions
5
Addressing Ethical Challenges Safety: Enclose PCB and cables for manufacturing Warning label on parts that may get hot Warning label on battery and enclosure Incorporate a fuse in case of a short Misuse: Explain in User Manual the importance of not overcharging & warn about consequences Disconnect programming header
