What sort of image are you making? - Graphics - Photographs For Graphics or Icons : GIF / PNG Note: PNG Has Transparency Features For Photographs : JPEG (JPG) Technical Information on Digital Images

Two main purposes: - Screen (Internet / Computer Screen) Low resolution that load very fast - Print (Higher Resolution Images) Print resolution = 300dpi or above Screen resolution = 72dpi Note: dpi (dots per inch) Deciding what the image will be used for (resolution differences)

In Bitmapped Graphics: - You may scale down the image - But you cannot scale up the image without losing quality There are several types of bitmap graphics: JPG, GIF, TIFF and BITMAP are the main types. Deciding what the image will be used for (resolution differences)
