Organ Donation Updates on statistics: 117,000 candidates on waiting list 18% on the list are in California 82% are need of a kidney transplant 2011: 8,100 deceased donors

Organ Donation Differences from tissue/eye donation: Patient must have cardiac circulation until time of procurement Approach process occurs prior to cardiac death Approach is non-scripted Cases take approximately 12 to 48hrs

Role of the Assistant Coordinator Purpose: Increase Lifesharing’s presence Aid in staffing challenges Maintain high level of response to referrals Maintain customer service

Effects on Donation On-site referrals: Goal: 2 hours from time of referral to on-site visit National benchmark for on-sites is 75% Lifesharing’s goal is 83% for on-sites

Effects on Donation 2011 - Began Assistant Coordinator Program: 1,535 referrals Response rate 77-84% 2012 - Full year with Coordinators: 1,663 (8.3% increase) Response rate 86.7%
