Page 8Final Review of ITER PBS 45 CODAC – PART 1 – 14 th, 15 th and 16 th of January 2014 - Cadarache Because displaying a position is not enough super objectsCRYO requires “super objects” to represent their equipment. Valve was taken as a use case Because displaying a valve in its opened/closed or partially opened position is not enough Because a valve can be in different operation modes: –Auto Mode –Auto Mode : The valve is driven by the control logic (PLC) –Manual Mode –Manual Mode : The operator drives the valve via the HMI - interlocks are active –Forced Mode –Forced Mode : The automatic return to the auto mode is impossible by the control logic - interlocks are inhibited Because other information is required like I/O error, I/O Simulated, Interlock… Field Objects – the need of Super Objects

Page 9Final Review of ITER PBS 45 CODAC – PART 1 – 14 th, 15 th and 16 th of January 2014 - Cadarache Super Objects Standardisation Difficult to have an agreement on that… How many valve types? –Manual, digital, control valves – what else? How a valve is: –Operated? –Controlled? –Monitored on the operator interface? CERN Unicos “like” ObjectCRYO proposed the implementation of CERN Unicos “like” Object using CODAC Core System toolkit –EPICS Process Variable definition –Operator Interface design with CSS BOY Field Objects – which Super Objects?

Page 13Final Review of ITER PBS 45 CODAC – PART 1 – 14 th, 15 th and 16 th of January 2014 - Cadarache Easy to start with Problems? Not really… Field Objects Field Objects: model the physical field equipment (e.g.: valves, pumps,...). The field objects are always connected to I/O objects. Could be: Local: Local: represents equipment only driven in local mode - manual valves OnOff: OnOff: represents equipment driven by a digital signal - digital valves Analog: Analog: represents equipment driven by an Analog signal – control valves
