2 Organizing For Success!  Student Handbook: A daily planner and information booklet  Schedules: A & B days (for 7th and 8th graders only!)  Advisor: A teacher assigned to keep track of your progress, and to help you adjust in all areas of the school. You will have scheduled meetings with your advisor throughout the year.

3 Sources of Information  Community Time: A weekly meeting at 8:20 each Monday  Assemblies  Academic Alert ( netclass ): Report at mid-quarter to point out areas of concern  Progress Report (netclass ): Quarterly report  Comments (netclass ): A narrative written by your teachers about your academic progress

4 Sources of Information Continued  Open House: On Tuesday, August 23, parents of students in grades 7-12 follow their child’s schedule to learn about the curriculum in each class.  Email: All Heritage teachers are available  E-News  Website  NetClassroom

5 Study Hall Opportunities  9:55 – 10:25 Daily Study Hall – provides time to do work or receive help from teachers 7 th & 8 th Graders  After School MS Study Hall Monday – Thursday: (Media Center) Friday: (ELC)

6 Social Opportunities  Break Time: 10:25 – 10:40 SLC snacks are available  Lunch / Recess: 12:10-12:45 daily  Socials: Planned Activities throughout the year  Art, Computer, Drama, Guitar, Music  7 th - 8 th Grade Chorus  MathCounts  Student Council  Athletic Events  MardiGra Dance (7 th / 8 th Grade)

7 Interim Trips  5 th - Ebenezer  6 th - Kanuga  7 th - Skidaway The above trips are scheduled for the spring and you will receive more information about each of these trips.  8 th - Washington D.C

9 MS Dress Code  Middle School (Grades 7 - 8)  khaki pants, walking shorts, skirts, and jumpers  navy blue collared, polo or buttoned down style shirts (white is permissible during 1st and 4th quarters); shirts may be plain or feature the Heritage logo; no other logos are permissible  all shirts must be of sufficient length that they may be tucked in  white turtleneck/mock turtlenecks or collared blouses are permissible when worn under a plain navy sweater, a navy Heritage sweatshirt, or plain navy sweatshirt  the only sweatshirts that are allowed are plain navy or any style/color Heritage logo sweatshirt

10 MS Dress Code cont.  Heritage sports t-shirts and other “fan” shirts may be worn ONLY on days when special permission to wear them is given.  white crew socks, white or navy knee-length socks, or tights (NO patterned socks or tights will be permitted0  tennis shoes, dress shoes, or leather sandals (no rubber shoes)  rain boots may be worn during inclement weather

11 Points of Emphasis 1. Heritage sport T-shirts and other “fan” shirts may be worn ONLY on days when special permission to wear them is given. 2. Rain boots may be worn during inclement weather. 3. Shirts must tucked in (boys and girls) 4. Belts must be worn (boys)

16 A few last important notes Carpool: Drop off and Pick up  Please DO NOT drop off at flag circle or behind gym in the mornings.  MS students w/LS siblings may be dropped off in the mornings at the LS carpool drop-off.  Pick-up is at MS pick-up point ONLY. (front of SLC)  If student is not available when parent arrives, parents should park in lot.  If a student is picked up after 3:30, pick up will be in the Media Center. A parent must come in and sign the student out of the study hall.

17 Prescription medications:  If your student needs medication dispensed to him/her at school, you must send the medication in the original prescription bottle.  Attach a note with instructions  Include last dose information
