4 Course Objectives Designed to introduce students to the scope and practice of professional engineering and the role it plays in today's society. Emphasis is placed on developing a range of technical, information literacy and report writing skills and innovative thinking to find solutions to social needs within a sustainable framework. 5 Development of information literacy and academic integrity skills have been a component of the subject for a number of years. oInformation Literacy component worth 10% of overall course mark. With a variety of approaches and assessment tasks supported by library workshops, learning materials delivered via Blackboard, and online discussions. Issues Information literacy sessions and related assessment task placed emphasis on lower order thinking and information seeking behaviours, rather than information using behaviours. Assessment task disjointed from other course assessment items. Need for greater focus on principles related to academic integrity. Information Literacy component prior to 2005
