Grammar Translation Method Use of translation and grammar study as the main teaching and learning activities. Reading and writing Students are taught in their mother tongue. Grammar is taught deductively.

CLT is an approach. Communication Students interact primarily with each other rather than with the teacher. Students give and receive information. Communicative Language Teaching

CLT is successful in other countries. Current application of the CLT approach in Bangladesh is still questionable. Teachers used to teaching grammar rules and conducting drills have difficulty seeing the value in CLT activities. The application of CLT is limited to the syllabus and curriculum only.
