Welcome to your Day of Many Colours!

The Day of Many Colours is a spiritual and fundraising day based on the Mission Rosary, where each decade of the rosary is a different colour, representing the different continents. Green is for Africa, red for the Americas, white for Europe, blue for Oceania, and yellow for Asia. The Day of Many Colours allows us to think about children in every continent around the world and to pray and share with them.

The Day of Many Colours is held in the spirit of the Mission Together motto, ‘Children Helping Children’. During this day, children in England and Wales are encouraged to pray and share with children around the world so that we can help children like Anna in Zambia. You might remember her story from our other materials. Anna is five years old and a year ago she became an orphan. She was very scared and had nowhere to go but then some Sisters brought her to Nyumba Yanga. Nyumba Yanga means ‘our home’ and it is a very special place run by Sister Ruby. Nyumba Yanga provides a home for 50 orphan girls who have nobody else to look after them. The Sisters give them food and clothes, they pay their school fees and look after them when they are sick. But more than that, they also give the girls a safe place to live and grow up, and they give them the love and support of a family. But the Sisters at Nyumba Yanga need to build more houses to be able to look after more girls who desperately need a safe home. Children like Anna need our help. Every penny and every prayer can make a real difference to the lives of thousands of children overseas.

Prayers for the Continents
The Day of Many Colours is all about ‘Children Helping Children’. While we pray and share with children around the world, children in every continent are also praying and sharing with you. Mission Together allows us to join together as one family in faith and love. So to start off your day, let’s begin with the prayers for the continents…

Our first prayer is for Africa.

Our second prayer is for the Americas.

Our Prayer for Europe Let us pray for the people of Europe and all the missionaries working there. We pray that the Church here continues to help all those in need, especially the sick. Amen Our third prayer is for Europe.

Our Prayer for Oceania Let us pray for the people of Oceania and all the missionaries working there. Let us also remember all the Christians in the world, especially those that live in remote areas. Amen Our fourth prayer is for Oceania.

Our Prayer for Asia Let us pray for the people of Asia and all the missionaries working there. Let us also pray for peace and that we may never forget the poor. Amen Our fifth prayer is for Asia.
