**THE OPENING HYMN #147 ‘HOW GREAT THOU ART’
11
O Lord my God, (1) When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout The universe displayed. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
12
When through the woods, (2) and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
13
And when I think,(3) That God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, My burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
14
When Christ shall come,(4) with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!” Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE From 1 Samuel 17 - LHV Read by Angel Calcorzi, Jr. Now the shepherd boy David said to King Saul of Israel, “Don’t be afraid of this giant named Goliath for I will go and fight him for you.” King Saul replied, “You cannot go out against Goliath and fight him; because you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior for many years.” But David said to King Saul, “The L ORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this giant.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the L ORD be with you.”
24
Then David took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from a nearby stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling shot in his hand, he approached Goliath. Meanwhile, Goliath, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and saw that he was only a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and Goliath despised him. Then Goliath cursed David and shouted, “Come here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!” So David replied to the Giant, “You come against me with your sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the L ORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
25
This day the L ORD will deliver you into my hands, and I will strike you down. This very day the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the L ORD saves for the battle is the L ORD ’s, and he will give you into our hands.” As Goliath moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet Goliath. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, David slung it and struck Goliath on the forehead. The stone sank into Goliath’s forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. So David triumphed over the the giant Goliath with a sling and a stone.
