8 What will happen after the workshops? The National workshops will result in recommendations for change that represent your views Recommendations The recommendations will be taken to a workshop of key decision makers (community controlled, government and education providers) who will create a final set of suggested recommendations and a plan for action Action plan The plan for action and recommendations will be included in the project’s final report which will be presented to the health ministers for endorsement. 13 1. Define the Health Worker workforce What kinds of issues will be discussed at the workshop? What should be the national definition of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker? How will national registration impact upon the definition of the workforce? Could/should the role of Health Workers be changed to better meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities? What things would help your workmates understand your role better? 13

How can we better support RTOs to provide the right educational courses for Health Workers in the right place at the right time? 15
