2  Sonia was born on this day in the Bronx New York.  Her father was Juan Sotomayor and her mother was Celina Baez.  She was the daughter of a middle class man.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonia_Soto- mayor

3 This is an image of Sonia and her family when at her house when she was little in the Bronx.

4  During this year Sonia and her family had to make refuge in the Co-op city in the Northeast Bronx.  They had to move due to the increase in heroin use, crime, and the emergence of the Black Spades Gang.

5 This is an apartment in the Northeastern Bronx although this isn’t Sonia’s home, it might have been similar to this.

6  This is the year when Sonia graduated as a valedictorian.  A valedictorian is a person who gives a final farewell address at a high school graduation.

7 This is a valedictorian (it’s obviously not Sonia) at a high school graduation.

8  This is the month that Sonia graduated from Princeton and was awarded an A.B.  She described her time in Princeton as a life-changing experience.  An A.B. is known as a bachelor’s degree.

9 This is Sonia’s yearbook picture in her senior year at Princeton.

10  It was on this day that just after graduating, Sonia married Kevin Edward Noonan.  She had dated Kevin since high school and they decided to get married in a small chapel at St. Patrick’s cathedral in New York.  She used the married name Sonia Sotomayor de Noonan.

14  It was at this time that Sonia was recommended by Cabranes out of law school and under District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.  It was because of this that she became an assistant district attorney.

16  During this year Sonia entered a private practice.  She was working as an international corporate litigator.  She was handling cases everything from intellectual property to banking, real estate and contract law.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com

18  It was on this day that President Barack Obama nominated Sonia to the Supreme Court.  This made her the first Hispanic in history to wear the robes of Justice.
